Tayeb Hamdi, a Moroccan doctor and researcher in health policies and systems, said the latest increase in COVID-19 cases marks the beginning of a new wave.

The health expert attributed the emergence of the new wave to a lack of respect for health protocol and preventive measures.

He also maintained that the development is due to the “reluctance” of some citizens to receive booster shots.

Hamdi told Moroccan television channel 2M that there is a significant decline in immunity among the large part of the population who have yet to receive their full vaccine shots.
