Amman, Jordan – On 1-2 March 2022, IOM Jordan facilitated a Training of Trainers (ToT) for selected officials of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) and Royal Medical Services (RMS).

The activity was conducted as part of a 12-month project “Mainstreaming COVID-19 Response into Humanitarian Border Management in Jordan,” funded by the Government of Japan, which aims to ensure that critical Humanitarian Border Management and Health, Border and Mobility Management principles are maintained and adapted to deal with the global COVID-19 pandemic in Jordan.

In September and October 2021, IOM Jordan has conducted six information sessions on the topics of Migration Health, Human Rights, Gender Equality, COVID-19 Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) measures and other relevant topics, for JAF border guards and medical staff of RMS. As the follow-up activities of these information sessions, this ToT was organized to coach new potential trainers within JAF on the didactical skills to teach the technical topics to other people.  The ToT intended to build a pool of competent instructors within JAF in order to ensure the project sustainability and the knowledge transfer continuity within JAF.

While all 10 participants were experienced border guard officers and medical practitioners from JAF and RMS, the ToT helped the participants built their knowledge on planning training strategies, presentation skills to deliver information effectively, and facilitative skills to promote active engagement of the learners.
