Qatar attends 7th meeting of Gulf CDC Supervisory Board

Riyadh: The 7th meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention and Control was held at the Gulf Health Council yesterday.

The State of Qatar was represented in the meeting by Director of the Public Health Department at the Ministry of Public Health Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani.

The meeting, which was attended by representatives of all GCC countries, discussed the 2023 executive plan presented by the Centre’s CEO Dr. Bassi Pantenin, and the goals and mechanisms of work of the plan, all of which are in the interest of the peoples and health institutions in the GCC countries.

Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council states approved the establishment of the Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (Gulf CDC) and its strategic plan during the 41st session of the Supreme Council in Al Ula in January 2021, with aim of coordinating the joint Gulf action in public and preventive health, and establishing a Gulf observatory entity to monitor the spread of epidemics and pandemics such as the COVID-19 and others, under the umbrella of the Gulf Health Council.
