The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population launched the national polio vaccination campaign on Sunday.

It aims to vaccinate 16 million Egyptian and non-Egyptian children in all governorates, from the age of one day to 5 years free of charge, to raise the community immunity of children and wipe out the disease.

The ministry said it has prepared a plan to carry out vaccinations through health offices, health units, and mobile medical teams that roam major squares, train stations, buses, subways, gatherings near mosques, churches, clubs, markets, parking lots, and public parks.

The ministry said in a statement that the campaign will roam streets and knock on doors to ensure access to children targeted for vaccination across the country, starting from eight in the morning until five in the evening, throughout the days of the campaign.
