The Health Ministry said no monkeypox cases have been detected in Egypt so far.

In a statement the ministry said the disease is not expected to spread highly in the Middle East countries.

This came after the monkeypox outbreak in various parts of the world and the declaration of a state of emergency by the World Health Organization.

The ministry had raised state of alert on all terminals to ensure early detection of any monkeypox case to avoid its spread in Egypt.

The quarantine authorities at Cairo International Airport announced taking new intensive precautionary measures to limit the spread of monkeypox after the World Health Organization declared a state of emergency due to the increase in infections worldwide.

There will be several exceptional measures taken by Egyptian airports to reduce any possibility of the spread of epidemic diseases.
