WHO Regional Director: Bahrain's robust health system role model for protecting public health

Health Minister, Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hasan, has affirmed that the kingdom will continue consolidating its partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to achieve common health goals.

She stressed the importance of the ongoing effective cooperation with WHO in supporting efforts to develop the health sector and ensure its sustainability at all levels, particularly regarding joint efforts to combat disease and epidemics.

While receiving here today WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) Director, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari, in the presence of the Health Ministry’s Undersecretary, Dr. Waleed Khalifa Al-Manae, the minister commended the pivotal role played by EMRO to support the health systems of the region’s countries.

She asserted that Bahrain’s partnership with WHO had been strengthened following the opening of WHO’s 152nd office in the kingdom a year ago, which, she said, crowns the outstanding bilateral decades-long relations and broadens areas of joint cooperation and coordination.

She highlighted the great support enjoyed by the health sector in the kingdom, thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, out of their strong belief that human health tops all priorities.
